A Compassionate Care Home
in Newcastle-Under-Lyme

We are a small, friendly, family-run care home set in the heart of the Potteries, affording easy access to the A500 but set in park-like gardens. The main ethos of the home is to treat our residents as we would our own family which, in fact, they are.

With this as our core purpose, our team of experienced and dedicated staff deliver care that is unique to the individual; always considering their needs, desires, preferences and choices. To facilitate this, we provide a rigorous, ongoing programme of staff training and mentoring. The owner alone has over 30 years of care home experience.

In the local area, our person-centred approach to our residents living with dementia and similar challenges, has gained The Maples a reputation for excellent practice.  We continuously strive to create a homely, familiar environment that enables our residents to reach their full potential from day-to-day life at our home.

Enjoying Life Every Day

We aim to support our residents to enjoy life every day at The Maples, in whichever way they wish to spend it. That could be listening to music, watching a film, participating in an activity, chatting to their new friends or simply sitting quietly.

All three light and airy lounges overlook our beautiful gardens. Each lounge is created to support the different needs of those who live at The Maples. In one lounge, residents may enjoy movie afternoons with popcorn and a tipple whilst watching a film from our vast library of DVDs. Or, in a second lounge, they could be participating in arts and crafts afternoons, such as flower arranging, or joining in with ‘Elvis’, one of our team of professional entertainers, who is ‘in the building’ providing lively music and dancing.

Our comfortable bedrooms are furnished to a high standard and fully connected to the ‘nurse call system’ which enables our residents to quickly access support throughout the day and night. We encourage residents to, as much as possible, personalise their rooms with their own possessions and mementos. Being surrounded by familiar things helps them to feel reassured and relaxed.

From our weekly hairdressing and pamper sessions, fortnightly library delivery, daily activities, annual pantomime performance to outings in the local area, there’s always plenty going on. Although our residents are encouraged to join in, we will always respect their choice not to.

“Throughout all phases of her time at the Maples, Mum’s care was exemplary and all the staff were kindness itself both to Mum and to my sister and I when we were able to visit. COVID made life difficult for us all and especially for Care Homes and their staff, but The Maples went out of their way to make things as smooth and pleasant as possible, and I cannot thank them enough.”

Mr H

“There are no words to express the sincere gratitude that we feel to all the Staff of The Maples for the love and care that they have given to our Mother and the kindness that they have shown to us, for almost six years. We were so lucky that we chose The Maples to be Mum’s final home. Thank you all.”

Mrs M

“Mrs.W 2021…When I opened Mum’s door on the day of her birthday and saw what you had done, it took my breath away. I had a fabulous day with Mum, and you all created a memory for me that I will always remember, and I have the pictures to prove it. Thank you is such an easy thing to say, so I will repay your thoughtfulness by continuing to champion The Maples in any way that I can. Best wishes to you all.”

Mrs W

“To all the team. Thank you for the garden Birthday party for Mum and our family, it made her day special.”

Mr D

“To all at The Maples, thanks for making Dad’s Birthday so special. Chef, the cake was wonderful, and Dad loved the balloons and his Birthday badge. You all deserve medals. Thanks again.”

Mrs A & Family

“Thank you to all the staff team at The Maples, for looking after Mum and all the support over the years.”

S & Family

“What a wonderful care home. We looked at many homes around Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent for Dad before making our choice. Small family run residential home with a dedicated management and staff team. Lovely gardens with space to move around in. We would highly recommend The Maples as a safe and caring home for your loved ones.”
